Last weekend, our friends from Warwick (who are in Lille for their year abroad) came to visit, and it was great to see them after such a long time.

As soon as we got there, it was just the weirdest feeling. When I had seen it before, it was always the highlight of going to Paris. You can’t stop looking at it, and it is genuinely so beautiful, especially at night. So why was this time different? The feeling was still warm, and I was still blown away by the Eiffel Tower- but just on a different scale. I was now even more in awe of the fact that this is now where I live. Paris is my home for the year, and I don’t think I could be happier! I think we’ve been all waiting for that moment. The one where everything clicks, and it finally feels like home. And I think Saturday night was probably that moment for me.

And now on a less cheesy note, my friends from Uni came to visit for the weekend, and it was so brilliant seeing them! On Friday night we went for drinks, and on Saturday, we spent the day walking around the neighbouring arrondissements.

It was definitely bizzare to be showing them around Paris- again, the reality had finally sunk in, that Paris is now home. It was equally just as embarrassing, because I really don’t know Paris well enough to be showing people around. Hopefully this will change by the end of the year…

Later in the evening, we got ready to celebrate Marisa’s birthday. After falling in love with the Eiffel Tower all over again, we then went for dinner at Le Malakoff, which was really lovely. It was right by the Eiffel Tower, so it was definitely a fitting 21st celebration! After drinks at our friend’s place, we headed out! (See previous post here).

Overall, it was such a great weekend. It was really nice having a piece of home (home, home), and familiarity. And after all the conversations comparing both of our years so far, I can’t wait for a visit to Lille!

ALSO SOPHIE’S MUM FOUND A VEGAN CAKE PLACE AND I DON’T THINK I’VE EVER BEEN MORE EXCITED EVER. It was the best little surprise, and I cannot wait to go and see it for myself!
