PLACE DE LA BASTILLE & PROMENADE PLANTÉE

The Place de la Bastille is well known not only for it’s history and the ugly glass 2nd Opera, but also for the nightlife nearby. However, there is also the Promenade Plantée, which, on a sunny day, is very worthwhile.

It is a 4.5km pathway following the track of an overground railway. We were unfortunately were stuck in an awful storm, and among the swarms of dedicated runners and freezing cold, we didn’t feel like completing it – understandably.

What we did see was pretty, and it was nice to have another perspective of rooftops and and buildings. I didn’t think too much of the streets nearer to the Gare de Lyon, but it also could’ve also just been the rain…
